When Indian cricket player Yuvraj Singh burst onto the scene, people took notice because he was both a good batsman and a skilled fielder. Indian fielding was below average when Singh came along, but he helped improve it immensely.
Yuvraj Singh, the famous Indian cricketer, was not able to reach the same level of success after his initial breakthrough when he struggled with fitness and commitment. No one bid for Yuvraj Singh in the IPL auction. It was a demonstration of how this competition does not care about someone’s reputation. After he was not as good late last year, there are doubts that he is not able to play at the same level.
The franchise Yuvraj Singh had led for one season was King XI Punjab. In 2008, he had led the team to their furthest playoff in IPL history. Although his form wasn’t as good because he still hadn’t recovered from his illness, Yuvraj was one of the most expensive players at the 2014 auction when Royal Challengers Bangalore spent 14 crores on him. Delhi Daredevils did the same at 2015 for 16 crores. But the poor performances didn’t keep him with those franchises for more than a year.
Yuvraj was picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 7 crores in 2016. He then had a couple of middling seasons and KXIP came calling in 2018, offering him the base price. However, this did not bring him back to his old self. He could not play at all like he used to and was not chosen in the first round of the auctions.
Yuvraj has played for six IPL franchises over the course of his career and, after playing his final game in international cricket, has decided to retire.
