Zimbabwe once again shocked Bangladesh: The Zimbabwe versus Bangladesh T20 Series are grabbing headlines for the last few days. The Zimbabwe cricket team showed great intent and managed to clinch the series from Bangladesh. It didn’t go well with the Bangladesh management team director looking disappointed when interacted with the media. Now Bangladesh is playing a 3-match ODI series with Zimbabwe from August 5 to August 10. The first ODI match between the two was held on Friday and Zimbabwe once again manage to stun Bangladesh
Raza and Kaia led Zimbabwe to victory
Bangladesh put a 303/2 score on board which included 4 half-centuries. When the host came in to bat the openers Regis and Tarisai got out with just 6 runs while chasing. Then the third wicket fell after 62. Later Raza and Kaia put together the game, they built a partnership of 192 runs for the 4th Wicket. Raza scored unbeaten 135 runs including 8 4s and six 6s while Kaia scored two 6s and 11 fours to score 110 runs. Their centuries came at the right time for Zimbabwe to lead to a great victory in the first match. They amazingly clinched the lead 1-0 in the series.
Bangladesh is ranked 7th in ICC ODI rankings and Zimbabwe is 8 places below Bangladesh. Zimbabwe took advantage of being put into a chase that appears to be the winning score.
Bangladesh opener Liton Das scored 81 unbeaten, he was forced to retire due to a suspected injury. Animal Haque scored 73 while Tamim Iqbal © scored 62, and Mushfique Rahim scored 52.
