This atmospheric and empathetic follow-up to the 2018 game FAR: Changing Tides comes from Swiss developer Okomotive and Roller Coaster Tycoon and Elite publisher Frontier Foundry. Solo SailsOnce more, the player explores a devasted post-apocalyptic world as the nameless driver of a massive boat.

FAR: Changing Tides is a side-scrolling adventure game with puzzle elements in which the player must work with the resources available to them from the surrounding environment in order to keep their boat running and fueled.

At some point, the player can even transform their boat into a submarine and plunge into the dark ocean’s depths.

The hybrid industrial-natural aesthetic of the game, which is available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, enables players to discover beauty even in the most decrepit places.

    Immortality

Whilst you are there please *VOTE* for us in the #SteamAwards2022 – your call, but Outstanding Story-Rich Game is probably the shoe that fits best… 🏆https://t.co/a58qS0sLOl pic.twitter.com/Q5qBQLuOtO

    — Half Mermaid Productions (@HalfMermaid) November 23, 2022

Immortality’s compelling found-footage mystery, reminiscent of classic films like The Blair Witch Project, reinvents the FMV genre and is less a single game than three games packaged into one. An “interactive movie trilogy” is created by Sam Barlow, who made a name for himself in interactive fiction with Her Story and Telling Lies.

In this game, players go through the unreleased films of actress Marissa Marcel to find out what really happened to her and why the films never came out. Despite the fact that solving the game’s central mystery requires a lot of effort from players, it is well worth it.

For Android, iOS, PC, and Xbox Series X|S, this sometimes beautiful, sometimes horrifying commentary on the nature of art and film is available.

Infernax The Metroidvania genre is a crowded one, and it can be hard for new games to stand out. This was not the case with Infernax, a game from Berzerk Studios that quickly garnered praise for its compelling gameplay loop, original boss fights, and traditional 2D design.

The story of the knight Alcedor, who finally returns from the Crusaders to find his village overrun by bizarre monsters that only he can defeat, is told in Infernax, which started out as a Flash game before it was crowdfunded through Kickstarter.

It was said that Infernax, which is available for purchase on the Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, was a delightful reminiscence of classic games like Zelda 2:The first Castlevania games and the Adventure of Link series.
