According to reports, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has granted a rating to the surfaces in Nagpur and Delhi following Australia’s series of defeats against India in the first two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

According to reports in the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age. Both the ICC and the match referee have given both pitches an “average” rating.

In stark contrast to the outcome of Australia’s previous Test tour of India in 2017. When Chris Broad gave the Pune pitch a poor rating and the Bengaluru surface a “below average” rating. An average rating indicates that the pitch was fair, if not perfect.

However, the official confirmation is not yet available.

“Pycroft also gave the strip for the second Test in Delhi. Where Australia pushed India for two days before falling in a heap on the third.” This means that the surface was considered fair if not perfect, an “average” rating.

The pitch debate attracted a lot of attention for being “unsporting.” Turned out to be unfounded because the Indian batters performed significantly better than their Australian counterparts.

In spite of the fact that Australia was bowled out for 177 and 91 in Nagpur. The Indian batsmen put up a total of 400 in the lone innings they had to bat in.

Although Australia performed significantly better in the first innings of the Delhi Test. It was insufficient to salvage a series-leveling victory.

Australia had India on the mat in both games. But India’s game-changing partnerships lower down the order saved the home team.

However, Australia struggled in the second innings of both Tests. Particularly in Delhi, where they lost nine wickets in a single session.

In addition, two of Australia’s spinners selected five-wicket hauls. Nathan Lyon rocked India with a five-wicket haul in the first innings in Delhi. While debutant Todd Murphy finished with 7/124.

In fact, Australia was one run ahead before the second innings, but the batters for Australia are suffering the most.

Australia’s ambitious strategy backfired at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium. When they attempted one too many sweep shots, ultimately resulting in their defeat.

Now that India has officially won the Border-Gavaskar for the third series in a row. Australia must win to even the series; Nevertheless, it will be easier said than done.

Josh Hazelwood and David Warner have previously been controlled out of the series. While left-arm spinner Ashton Agar also has returned to home base as a feature of a significant upgrade that is supposed to happen before the third Test starts in Indore from Walk 1.
