The BRICS Games 2022 will be held from the 1st to the 30th of September, and athletes from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa will compete online, according to the organizers’ announcement on Thursday.
Yoga, dragon and lion dance, dragon boat racing, Brazil jiu-jitsu, sambo, and Dibeke will be featured in the 2022 BRICS Games as demonstration events. Breakdancing, chess, and Wushu will be medal events at the competition.
Gao Zhidan, who is in charge of China’s General Administration of Sport, expressed his confidence in the BRICS Games, claiming that they have the potential to foster greater solidarity among the countries that take part, advance the cause of peace, and stimulate economic expansion.
Since China was the host country for the 14th BRICS Summit, which took place in June, China was chosen to host the BRICS games. According to Gao Zhidan, China’s Minister of Sports, a digital version of the competition has the potential to encourage intercultural conversation as well as safe and innovative people-to-people relationships amongst the nations that are competing.
On Wednesday, the organizers enabled the portal that may be used for registration, video submissions, scoring, judging, and result releases.
The website also contains demonstrations of traditional sports, such as yoga from India, dragon boat racing from China, and jiujitsu from Brazil, in addition to the three competitive activities that are featured there. On the platform, both amateurs and professionals can share videos with one another and have conversations with one another. The beginning of the official registration period for the competitions will take place on August 15.
