Doddie Weir, a legend in Scottish rugby, has passed away at the age of 52.

Along with fellow sports stars Rob Burrow and Stephen Darby, Weir has been battling Motor Neurone Disease since 2017 and has led efforts to fund research into a cure ever since.

In a statement, his wife Kathy said that he had passed away, calling him an “inspirational force of nature.”

He joined Border Reivers in his native Scotland after seven years with Newcastle Falcons, where he began his professional career.

Weir showed up on the pitch before Scotland’s loss to New Zealand recently with players sporting blue and yellow plaid

Scottish Rugby affirmed his shocking demise via online entertainment through a proclamation from spouse Kathy, who has three children – Hamish, Angus and Ben.

Doddie was a force of nature who inspired others. We believe that he was able to fight the effects of MND (Motor Neurone Disease) for so many years thanks to his unending energy and drive, as well as his character strength, which carried him through his rugby and business careers.

on vacation, or celebrating special occasions with extended family and friends.

Doddie was robbed of a lot by MND, but never of his spirit or drive. He bravely fought MND, and even though his own battle is over, he will continue to fight through his foundation until this terrible disease is cured.

A week after completing an ultramarathon challenge, rugby legend Kevin Sinfield raised over £1.8 million for MND research.

Since meeting in 2020, Weir, Burrow, a former rugby league star, and Darby, a former Liverpool defender, have collaborated to raise awareness of the disease and become great friends.

On Saturday, Burrrow paid tribute to Weir.He tweeted:I was heartbroken to learn.

my MND hero, Doddie Weir, had passed away.I regret to say, but how many more warriors will perish before this naive government provides the £50 million promised?

Nicola Sturgeon, the First Minister of Scotland, wrote, “Doddie was a national sporting hero, but his brave response to MND was greater than anything he accomplished on the rugby field. He did so much to assist others and refused to let it dampen his spirit. My sympathies go out to his family.

During the England-South Africa match at Twickenham on Saturday night, a tribute was shown on the big screen.

The England Rugby team posted:Doddie Weir was a great player for England Rugby, and his passing has deeply saddened the England Rugby family.a real person, both on and off the field. We will deeply miss him.At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family.”

The head of World Rugby, Bill Beaumont, stated:He possessed unwavering, moving character strength.Through tireless campaigning and fundraising, he channeled his determination into fighting not only his own battle but also the battle for all MND sufferers.always with a happy face.He was simply a remarkable individual.”

Brian Moore, a well-known rugby commentator, added:I am deeply sorry to learn of Doddie Weir’s passing.A remarkable individual in every way, he will be greatly missed.Tear Large Man.”

In the 114 years of matches between the two nationsAustralia they have never accomplished that.

This piece of history, if it is made, could be seen as quite something considering Wales’ 13-game losing streak against the Wallabies from 2008 to 2018.

Instead, it will barely be a subplot during the competition at Principality Stadium.

There are more pressing issues than Wales and Australia’s limping toward the end of a forgettable year. The final game of 2022 will be played outside of World Rugby’s international window, leaving out many of the top players.Particularly for the hosts.

Following the shocking 13-12 defeat to Georgia that shocked the nation and the entire rugby world, Wales coach Wayne Pivac’s very survival in the position is on the line this weekend.

But would a victory over a weak Wallabies team be enough to keep the Pivac in charge? With requests for Warren Gatland’s return, that remains to be seen.

The Ribs manager has been in control for a very long time, subsequent to taking over from individual New Zealander Gatland.

After Georgia’s defeat, Pivac said that seven days is a long time in rugby.

It has been a long week, and a lot of opinions have been expressed regarding whether Pivac should remain in his position after overseeing another embarrassing home defeat, just eight months after losing for the first time to Italy in Cardiff. Wales makes a surprise debut for the Australia game, and Pivac accepts that there is a lot at stake against the Wallabies.

After Georgia, Pivac said, others would decide his future.

Five days later, he reiterated his position and implied that it was business as usual for him, despite the fact that he acknowledged that there was “a lot at stake” against Australia.

Pivac disclosed that he will travel to France on Sunday to conclude preparations for the 2023 World Cup.

It is up for debate whether he will join Wales at that tournament.

Is it possible to forget the agonizing events in Georgia and Italy with just a victory over a shadow Wallabies team?

Just Welsh Rugby Association (WRU) CEO Steve Phillips and execution chief Nigel Walker will know the response, possibly close by the new seat who is set to be named one week from now.

It has been a trying week for Welsh rugby, as former captain Sam Warburton stated that the sport is stuck in the “Stone Age” and that the WRU needed to implement fundamental changes.

That requirement for change is obvious, with a long haul, cognizant technique expected to fix the crucial defects of the weak Welsh game that exist through and through.

Australia versus WalesCrew actually playing for me says lead trainer Wayne Pivac

The momentary choice is how to manage Pivac. The generosity created by a first Ridges Test prevail upon the Springboks in South Africa in July, in addition to the Six Countries 2021 title achievement, has to a great extent dissipated.

Pivac will have to present the defense with a record of only three wins in 11 games this year and an overall record of 13 wins, 19 losses, and a draw during his tenure.

The continued world-class presence of Taulupe Faletau, who will play his 100th international this weekend, has been one of the few positive aspects of the autumn campaign.

Over the course of 11 years, that total includes five Tests for the British and Irish Lions and 95 internationals for Wales.

There is a contention Faletau could be viewed as Grains’ best number eight, straight up there with the amazing Mervyn Davies.

Along with the recalled former Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones and fullback Leigh Halfpenny, the 32-year-old is a member of an experienced team that Pivac has selected.

That group, along with center George North, hooker Ken Owens, and Tipuric, has won 626 Wales caps, more than 200 more than the entire starting lineup for Australia.

Joe Hawkins, a center for the Ospreys at the age of 20, is at the other end of the spectrum.

Pivac uses uncapped Hawkins, the only specialist center left in the team, to play alongside George North due to injuries to Owen Watkin and Johnny Williams and the absence of Saracens’ Nick Tompkins.

Rassie Erasmus made her Twitter debut in February 2020 with those words.

Video of him giving a rousing pre-game motivational speech deep within the Yokohama International Stadium three months earlier accompanied his debut post.

After disappointing victories over Japan and Wales in the previous rounds, the Springboks were appropriately inspired and swept past England to win the Rugby World Cup final 32-12.

Erasmus still sets the tone as the teams get ready to meet again on Saturday, three years and 190 posts later.

At Twickenham, South Africa’s director of rugby and chief content creator will not be present. He is instead serving the second week of a two-week suspension from the Springbok matchday lineup.

LISTEN:Smit on Rugby Union Weekly Springboks not given due respect – Nienaber His suspension was imposed for his less enlightening, but now more regular, social media output, a string of tweets highlighting refereeing calls against his team. Rugby Union Weekly – a must-win game We want to get Twickenham bouncing – George Erasmus’ behavior “making Boks easy to dislike”

Erasmus asserts that their purpose was to initiate discussion and enhance comprehension of the game.

There are already a lot of backchannels where people can talk to referees.Erasmus is aware of this.

For example:After South Africa’s first of three Tests against the British and Irish Lions was lost in Cape Town in July, the Springbok staff was unhappy with a number of decisions made by the referee in Australia, Nic Berry.Berry sent Erasmus an email within 30 minutes.

Berry wrote, “I received your clips, thank you,” and offered to meet with Erasmus to evaluate his performance.Berry also provided his thoughts on each of the 36 calls in question in his response.

Shortly thereafter, the video surfaced online, igniting hostility throughout the tour of the British and Irish Lions.Erasmus’ claim that he was not accountable for its public release was rejected by an independent disciplinary committee.

As a result, it seems as though Erasmus intended his public performance in the fall for a specific, private audience, much like his speech in Yokohama:the Springboks as a whole.

The best players in test rugby act like underdogs.A new siege mentality has driven out any swagger they might have had after winning the World Cup.That roar? It’s a rekindled desire to disprove the world’s assumptions.

This past week, head coach Jacques Nienaber made an appearance in front of the media. He stated that the entire truth regarding Erasmus’ ban had not yet been made public. He asserted that a false narrative about his team is being circulated.

Games of mind?Indeed, it might simply be the inspiration South Africa need.

In 2019, the Springboks were a different team.England is also not either.

Operators who are smarter and more savvy will no longer be coerced out of games.Muscle and mind should be sent in equivalent measure.

England and South Africa rank fourth and fifth, respectively, in the rankings.Neither team has yet to surpass a fall win rate of 50%.

Both are looking for ways to improve their game and find solutions in time for France 2023.

Nienaber seethed at the generalization of his group, who scored 20 attempts in six Rugby Title games recently, as crash epicureans and little else.

Evan Roos, a number eight with startling speed, wins his third cap at Twickenham. The dazzling running game of Damian Williamse, who starts at 10, was never a part of 2019 fly-half Handre Pollard’s arsenal.

Eddie Jones of England, who is used to being the center of attention in the lead-up to a big game, has played a relatively minor role in the days leading up to this one.

He made the joking comment that Erasmus might imitate football coach Jose Mourinho by rescuing his team from a Twickenham laundry basket. He stated that his England wanted to “light up” Twickenham with the same enthusiasm as their comeback against the New Zealand All Blacks.

But the Boks controversy hasn’t helped him in the way you might think.

Instead, Jones has concentrated on expanding the team’s arsenal, which has tended to reach for the sledgehammer first.

He has brought Tommy Freeman back, who, along with Freddie Steward and Jonny May, makes a fast back three that is equally at ease with the high ball.

Tommy Freeman is brought in on the side.

Autumn Internationals: England v South Africa
Venue: Twickenham Stadium Date: Saturday, 26 November Kick-off: 17:30 GMT
Coverage: Live text commentary on the BBC Sport website and app, updates on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

live text Tommy Freeman of Northampton takes Jack Nowell’s place on the wing in one of four changes for England’s match against South Africa on Saturday.

Freeman only recently made his club comeback from a foot injury, despite his impressive performance on the summer tour of Australia.
Mako Vunipola and hooker Jamie George have been promoted to the starting lineup, while Ellis Genge and Luke Cowan-Dickie remain on the bench.

To add a third line-out jumper, Sam Simmonds is being replaced as flanker by Alex Coles.
Ben Youngs, a Leicester teammate, is replaced at scrum half by Jack van Poortvliet.

Smit on Rugby Union Weekly: Erasmus’ behavior “making Boks easy to dislike” Nienaber: Springboks aren’t treated with respect “We’re going out there to light the crowd up,” said head coach Eddie Jones.
“We want to work hard on the pitch to ensure that we have another atmosphere like that again on Saturday,” the team said. “The support at Twickenham was outstanding last week.”

Before England stormed back to claim a 25-25 draw in the final ten minutes, the changes appear to counter some of the vulnerabilities that New Zealand was able to exploit for the majority of the match last weekend.

Cross-field kicks were directed at Nowell as he lined up against the taller Caleb Clarke, but Nowell was unable to make any ground with the ball in his hands.

Freeman, who is 6 feet 2 inches tall, can play full-back or on the wing.
When asked about Freeman’s inclusion, Jones told BBC Radio 5 Live, “We always wanted to get him back into the team.”

“We believe that he has the potential to become a very good player for us.”Tommy’s pace is something we like in our back three.
Genge struggled to contain opposite number Tyrel Lomax during the scrum against New Zealand, which put a lot of pressure on England’s pack.

Jones said that his first line changes were part of the way an endeavor to copy South Africa’s ‘bomb crew’ strategy of welcoming on apparently their more grounded triplet right off the bat in the final part.

“We want to try out the idea of the “bomb squad,” can we bring on a more powerful front row in the second half?”Added he.
“That is a powerful front row if you look at the guys we have there [on the bench] – Genge, Cowan-Dickie, and Will Stuart.”

Jones’ determination implies a similar first column – Vunipola, George, and tighthead prop Kyle Sinckler – that began the 2019 Rugby World Cup last against South Africa will take to the field at Twickenham.

He later admitted that for the 32-12 defeat in Yokohama, he should have chosen Joe Marler over Vunipola because of his scrambling power.
After Simmonds started alongside Tom Curry and Billy Vunipola against the All Blacks, Coles’ presence in the back row expands England’s line-out options.

Prior to their rout of Italy last weekend, South Africa suffered narrow defeats against Ireland and France.

Some players based outside of South Africa, like Leicester’s Jasper Wiese and Harlequins’ Andre Esterhuizen, have had to fulfill obligations to their clubs because the match took place outside of World Rugby’s window for international play.

However, Eben Etzebeth, Makazole Mapimpi, and Faf De Klerk are among the stars of Japan 2019 who are still in the strong lineup.

England: Steward; Freeman, Tuilagi, Farrell (capt), May; Smith, Van Poortvliet; M Vunipola, George, Sinckler, Itoje, Hill, Coles, Curry, B Vunipola.

Replacements: Cowan-Dickie, Genge, Stuart, Ribbans, Simmonds, Youngs, Slade, Nowell.

South Africa: Le Roux; Arendse, Kriel, De Allende, Mapimpi; Willemse, De Klerk; Nche, Mbonambi, Malherbe, Etzebeth, Orie, Kolisi (c), Mostert, Roos.

Replacements: Marx, Kitshoff, Du Toit, Van Staden, Smith, Hendrikse, Libbok, Moodie

Tommy Freeman will start Saturday’s game against South Africa at Twickenham, and Eddie Jones has added Mako Vunipola and Jamie George to his starting lineup. As England try to get their second win of the autumn season, Jones has also given Alex Coles a second start and dropped both of his vice captains.

Freeman takes Nowell’s place on the right wing, Vunipola takes the place of Ellis.

Genge at loosehead prop, and George takes over for Luke Cowan-Dickie.Coles replaces David Ribbans, a Northampton teammate, as Sam Simmonds’ blindside flanker in the back row.In addition, Jones has stuck with scrum-half Jack van Poortvliet despite his obvious struggles against New Zealand.

“More bravery:”Freeman, 21, makes his first appearance of the fall after impressing when he won his first two caps against Australia in the summer. Jamie George urges England to step up their game against the Springboks.Due to his struggles against the All Blacks, Nowell is benched.Vunipola and George both did well from the bench against New Zealand last week. George was included despite admitting this week that his broken foot has not fully healed.Given his impact off the bench against New Zealand, Ribbans may consider it unfortunate that he did not play for Coles.

In another match, outside-center Manu Tuilagi earns his 50th cap, and Jones resists the temptation to start Henry Slade, another player who stood out against the All Blacks.Marcus Smith and Owen Farrell continue their 10-12 partnership, Jones stays with Jonny May, and another 21-year-old couple, Freddie Steward and Van Poortvliet, stays with Jones.

Kyle Sinckler, Jonny Hill, Maro Itoje, Tom Curry, and Billy Vunipola continue to play in the front row.Cowan-Dickie, Genge and Will Stuart – who scored two attempts in the sensational rebound against New Zealand – give first line cover as substitutions.Ben Youngs, Slade, Nowell, Ribbans, and Simmonds are also on the bench.

Jones stated, “This is our chance to continue building on the improvements we have made throughout the matches.” This is our final game of the autumn. From game to game, we have made steady progress, which culminated in a pulsating draw against New Zealand.

Presently we get the opportunity to test ourselves against the could of the title holders.

We are going there to illuminate the crowd.Last week’s support at Twickenham was outstanding, and we intend to put in a lot of effort on the field to replicate that atmosphere on Saturday.

2022 MELBOURNE (Reuters) – After failing a concussion test, Australia flanker.

Michael Hooper has been added to the long list of injured players ahead of the season-ending match against Wales.

According to Rugby Australia’s website, Hooper, who missed the majority of the Rugby Championship for health reasons, developed symptoms of a concussion following the Ireland test and was therefore disqualified from Saturday’s final match in Cardiff.

Following Ireland due to various injuries, the Wallabies had already sent six players home, including prop Taniela Tupou, back row enforcer Rob Valetini, and scrumhalf Nic White.

Coach Dave Rennie and his staff are under a lot of pressure because Australia has lost three of their four matches on their tour of the northern hemisphere.

“It’s always difficult to lose Dan because he is world-class, but it opens the door for others like Gareth, Rhys, and Sam,” Jenkins said in advance of this weekend’s matchup with the Wallabies.

“We are fortunate in that we have competent replacements. You want players battling it out and competition. At Bristol, we also have Jarrod (Evans) and Callum (Sheedy) as tens.”

MPs are going to ask the governing bodies of rugby union how two Premiership clubs, Worcester Warriors and Wasps, went bankrupt at the same time.

The House of Commons Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport Committee will host a meeting on Thursday between the heads of the Rugby Football Union and Premiership Rugby.

They will discuss whether the game and club owners require additional financial oversight.

Wasps, co-founders of the Premiership, entered administration on October 17.

That occurred 13 days after Worcester’s WRFC Players Ltd, the club’s arm that pays players and staff, was wound up in the High Court in London.

The Wasps Group had debts of over £100 million, while Warriors’ debts now total more than £30 million, including millions in unpaid taxes.

Wasps Holdings’ most recent set of financial statements, which covered the fiscal year that ended in June 2021, revealed liabilities of £54.7 million and a loss of £18.5 million over a two-year period.

Listen to and subscribe to the Rugby Union Weekly podcast. The RFU has lost £73 million since 2012, and there has already been media speculation that several other Premiership clubs have major financial issues.

MP Robin Walker of Worcester, CEO Carol Hart of the Worcester Warriors Foundation, RFU CEO Bill Sweeney, CEO Simon Massie-Taylor of Premiership Rugby, and CEO Judith Batchelar of the Rugby Players Association are all scheduled to testify before the committee.

The most important questions are whether or not there should be more oversight to prevent financial mismanagement, whether English rugby should follow the French league model, and whether or not Wasps and Worcester will return to the Premiership and keep their “P” shares in the league.

The Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport Committee is a ten-member committee of the House of Commons, not a government committee, and its primary function is to hold ministers accountable.

Both Worcester and Wasps are currently out on suspension and have been relegated from the Premier League.

The outcome of the upcoming season is still unknown to both teams.

Kurt-Lee Arendse moves to the right wing this weekend, and Damian de Allende moves from outside center to inside center, where he teams up with Kriel.

Thomas du Toit (prop), Marco van Staden (flanker), Jaden Hendrikse (scrum-half), Canan Moodie (wing), and others have been added to the bench.

Cheslin Kolbe, Andre Esterhuizen, Cobus Reinach, Jasper Wiese, and Vincent Koch have all returned to their club teams, making them unavailable.

“Every player in this squad has played Test rugby, and our selection strategy throughout the season and the SA “A” games against Munster and Bristol have allowed most of them to play at this level.

“It doesn’t get any bigger for a player than playing England in the final Test of the season at Twickenham in front of a packed house, and you can feel the players’ excitement about this occasion.”

Following their impressive victory over New Zealand, the Springboks coach anticipates an “epic encounter at Twickenham” with England.

World Rugby has stated that it is “looking at the circumstances” of the disputed events that occurred on Saturday in Dublin. During the second half of Australia’s 13-10 loss to Ireland, Nic White was allowed to return to the field despite clear indications that he had sustained a brain injury.

White has since been remained down for 12 days and will miss the last round of the Wallabies’ visit against Ridges.

After a tackle on Mack Hansen and an accidental collision with Josh van der Flier’s boot, the scrum-half was not eliminated from the match as should have been the case, despite being clearly unsteady on his feet.

Dave Rennie’s erratic Wallabies leave him with more questions than answers | Daniel Gallan Instead, the former Exeter player was reinstated after passing a head injury assessment, which angered Progressive Rugby, a concussion advocacy group.Since then, it has been claimed that the independent matchday doctor and the Australian medical team were too busy reviewing the first tackle to catch the crucial footage of White looking dazed and stumbling.

White has not yet shown any signs of a concussion, but there are clear parallels to the incident that occurred during England’s match against Wales at Twickenham this year with Tomas Francis. The Wales prop should have been “immediately and permanently removed from play,” according to a subsequent investigation, and a number of suggestions were made to prevent similar errors in the future.

White’s absence from the Wales match exacerbates the Wallabies’ ever-increasing availability issues. There are injuries to Dave Porecki, Taniela Tupou, Hunter Paisami, Rob Valetini, and Andrew Kellaway. Bernard Foley and Will Skelton must return to their Japanese and French clubs because the match is outside the international window.

Tupou appears to be the longest absentee due to a serious Achilles injury, which may rule him out of the France Rugby World Cup the following year.

The previous All Blacks mentor on why moving hammers ought to be restricted, the 2023 World Cup and what he has gained from training ladiesGraham Henry

At 76, Sir Graham Henry says the last whistle has now sounded.

Perhaps of the most enhanced mentor in rugby history has hung up his tracksuit and is going into the retirement dusk on the ideal Waiheke Island. His last hurrah was last Saturday’s ladies’ Reality Cup last across the straight in Auckland where, as an expert with the Dark Greeneries, he properly closed down with another groundbreaking triumph.

Assuming it seems like the conclusion of a significant time period that is precisely exact thing it is. Henry trained the All Blacks to 88 successes in 103 Tests – his record against Britain read played nine, won nine – and directed them to the 2011 World Cup title. He was World Mentor of the Year multiple times and furthermore trained Ridges and the English and Irish Lions. In the event that anybody is able to talk about the wellbeing – etc – of current rugby association he is a lot of the man.

Which is the reason everybody ought to sit up and listen when he recommends the game has a rising issue. “I think the moving hammer has crazy, by and by,” he says, taking a scrutinizing taste of his mocha.  That is most likely not an extremely engaging piece of the game for the onlooker.”

Henry has been engaged with high level training for quite some time – having.

instructed in schools for quite a long time before that – and needs no reminding that rugby is a physical game that can be moved toward in heap ways. His issue is that a few sides are beginning to do little else and are making neutrals lose interest. “Maybe in Britain the quantity of onlookers cares for itself as a result of the size of the populace however in this region of the planet it doesn’t.

They’re attempting to get individuals along to watch the games. I think the moving hammer is a negative piece of the game according to a review perspective. It’s extremely difficult for the protective side to stop it. I believe it’s a piece of the game we could check out and say, ‘Might we at any point make this a more prominent challenge?'”

Likewise his conviction empowering players to handle marginally lower is significant to the game’s future prevalence, not least at local area level. It will let loose the ball and there’ll be much more offloads, which will make it a superior game to watch. I think the emphasis on tackle level has proactively been a genuine positive.”

Henry’s viewpoint has been honed by his experience with the Dark Greeneries, who beat Britain 34-31 to hold the world title at Eden Park.  The men’s down today is merciless, right? It’s so ridiculous speedy, you have such countless huge, solid competitors and the field hasn’t got any greater. Individuals have truly told me, ‘I’ve truly partaken in the ladies’ games since I can see what’s happening.'” It has additionally made him keep thinking about whether the men are making too much of themselves.

Hong Kong authorities have requested an examination after a rugby match-up where a dissent melody was played rather than China’s public hymn.

The tune, Greatness to Hong Kong, is viewed as the informal song of devotion of the 2019 favorable to a majority rules government development.

Furthermore, it has become progressively disputable under Beijing’s solid handle over the city.

In spite of the fact that Hong Kong authorities didn’t name the melody, recordings of the scene from Sunday’s match have since been shared generally on the web.

The melody can be heard playing in front of a match between Hong Kong and South Korea at the Asia Rugby Sevens, a yearly provincial competition. The players don’t seem to respond to the tune.

The coordinators said the mix-up was caused “by human blunder of a lesser staff”, and that the Hong Kong group mentor had presented the right tune, as indicated by an administration proclamation.

An administration representative said they had kept in touch with the Hong Kong Rugby Association on Sunday night requesting that they “manage this matter genuinely [and to] send off a full and top to bottom examination”.

It added that the Hong Kong group saw the slip-up and China’s public hymn, Walk of the Workers, was played during the award service after Hong Kong won the last.

The Hong Kong Rugby Association on Monday communicated “outrageous disappointment” over the episode.

ffffff
It likewise said the coordinators, Asia Rugby, have “communicated their earnest conciliatory sentiments and guaranteed us it won’t repeat”.

Hong Kong currently has a regulation against slighting the Chinese public hymn. It was authorized in 2020 following quite a while of the Chinese hymn being booed at during football matches.

Brilliance to Hong Kong has not been prohibited in the city but rather recently, a man who played it alongside a few tunes outside the English office on his harmonica, was kept for completing an “act with dissident plan”.

Hong Kong is an exceptional regulatory district of China and should be governed under the “one country, two frameworks” rule that jelly opportunities in the city that the central area doesn’t have.

Be that as it may, China’s impact has filled lately, particularly directly following gigantic favorable to a majority rule government fights.
