Sydney Thunder have now lost three consecutive games after winning their first. Apart from Alex Hales, the rest of the hitters have underperformed, while the bowlers have also been below-par. With Jason Sangha out, the side’s batting looks vulnerable once more.
The Brisbane Heat won their first match of the season in the previous encounter, and they will like to capitalise on the momentum. Last time, Sam Billings and Max Bryant were outstanding. This team’s bowling unit appears to be great, but they will be without James Bazley in this encounter.

Sydney Showground Stadium will host the second game of the current BBL season. The opening match of the season was a record-breaking one, with the home team scoring 15 runs. There is clearly a lot of seam movement on this track.
The recent match, however, may be viewed as an anomaly because this is normally a great track to bat on. Last season, four BBL games were played here, with the average first innings score of 172 runs, and three of the matches won by teams batting first.
There is a lot of bounce on this track, and the pacers will enjoy their time in the early overs of the match. Given the calibre of pacers on both sides, it could be a tremendous battle between bat and ball. On this ground, one side of the boundary is tiny, and the outfield is fast. Given their track records, both captains may elect to bat after winning the toss.
For the time being, there is no prospect of rain. Temperatures about 25 degrees Celsius will make for pleasant playing conditions. The humidity will be around 60%.
