In the history of the league, there have been multiple dynasties, each led by an NBA star such as Bill Russell, who holds the record for most championship rings earned by a player with 11. After that, Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls embarked on an incredible 6-0 run in the ’90s, which is still remembered today.

Players currently in the NBA who have won the most championships

There are now a large number of NBA players that have won the title of NBA champion more than once. These players have either played significant roles on championship teams or have been the driving force behind the team’s success.

LeBron James, who just recently won the 17th title for the Los Angeles Lakers and his 4th ring in the past 17 years, is the best example of the latter category. Let’s look at the active players in the NBA who currently hold the most championships and rank them from best to worst.

    T-10: Kawhi Leonard – 2 NBA Titles

In the 2013–14 NBA season, Kawhi Leonard and the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Miami Heat to claim their first NBA championship. Several superstars, including Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili, were on the roster for the Spurs. In 2014, Leonard won Most Valuable Player of the Finals for his outstanding defensive performance against the Miami Heat, particularly LeBron James.

In the 2018–19 season, Kawhi Leonard won his second championship with the Toronto Raptors. That season, they defeated the Golden State Warriors and dashed the Warriors’ aspirations of winning three consecutive titles. Kawhi Leonard was named Most Valuable Player of the Finals during that series.

    T-10: Kevin Durant – 2 NBA Titles

Kevin Durant led the Golden State Warriors to back-to-back NBA championships in 2016–17 and 2017–18, both of which were victories over the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was awarded the Most Valuable Player award in both Finals series. He became a member of an elite group of players who have earned repeated Most Valuable Player awards in the Finals.

    9: JaVale McGee – 3 NBA Titles

JaVale McGee was a key member of the Golden State Warriors dynasty and helped the team win two championships during the 2016–17 and 2017–18 seasons.

In the 2019-20 season, McGee won his third championship ring with the Los Angeles Lakers, along with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

    8: Patrick McCaw – 3 NBA Titles

Since the beginning of his career, Patrick McCaw has had the distinct advantage of playing for several of the league’s most successful teams. Between the 2016–2017 and 2018–2019 NBA seasons, he won three consecutive championships, two of which were with the Golden State Warriors and one with the Toronto Raptors.

It wasn’t until the 2019-20 NBA Finals that the team winning the championship didn’t have Patrick McCaw on their roster. This was the first time in the last four years that this has happened. He was victorious in the championship game in his first three seasons in the league.

    7: Danny Green – 3 NBA Titles

Danny Green has won three NBA championships with a different team each time. It was with the San Antonio Spurs in 2013-14 and the Toronto Raptors in 2018-19 that he won his first and second NBA titles, respectively. Kawhi Leonard was his teammate both times.

In the 2019-20 NBA season, Danny Green won his third championship ring with the Los Angeles Lakers, winning the title alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Green is currently the reigning NBA champion.

    6: Udonis Haslem – 3 NBA Titles

Udonis Haslem is a legendary member of the Miami Heat. He was born and raised in Miami and has spent his entire professional career with the Heat, participating in all three of the NBA championships that the Heat have ever won as a franchise.

Udonis Haslem was there in 2005-06 to witness Dwyane Wade’s remarkable run through the Finals. Later in his career, he played for the Miami Heat superteam alongside Chris Bosh and LeBron James during the 2011–12 and 2012–13 seasons.

    5: Andre Iguodala – 3 NBA Titles

Andre Iguodala is the only player in NBA history to earn the Most Valuable Player of the Finals while having spent the entirety of the regular season on the bench. The Golden State Warriors won their first NBA championship in over four decades after adding him to their starting lineup during the 2015 NBA Finals. This move proved to be the decisive factor in the series’ outcome.

Andre Iguodala added two more championship rings to his collection with the Warriors. He has participated in the NBA Finals for the past six seasons, winning five of them with the Warriors and one with the Miami Heat in the just-completed 2019-20 season.

    4: Draymond Green – 3 NBA Titles

Draymond Green, the anchor of the Golden State Warriors and the pick-and-roll partner of the Splash Brothers, is one of the primary factors that has contributed to the sustained success of the club known as the Golden State Warriors. He has been in the NBA Finals with the Warriors for the past five years and has won three rings as a result (in 2014–2015, 2016–2017, and 2017–2018).

He is frequently seen as the squad leader, and his contributions were significant in each of the runs to the Finals. It is widely believed that the absence of this player from Game 5 of the 2016 NBA Finals was one of the primary factors that led to the Warriors losing.

    3: Klay Thompson – 3 NBA Titles

Klay Thompson and his Splash Brother Stephen Curry guided the Golden State Warriors to five consecutive appearances in the NBA Finals. They were victorious in three of those championships. His phenomenal shooting and defense made the franchise’s journeys to the Finals significantly easier.

Many people believe that Klay Thompson will end his career having won one or more championships, cementing his legacy as one of the league’s most accomplished shooters.

    2: Stephen Curry – 3 NBA Titles

Stephen Curry, widely recognized as the greatest shooter to have ever lived, is the primary contributor to the Golden State Warriors dynasty as a player. He was named league MVP twice and led the team to the NBA Finals for five years.

Stephen Curry is now one of the most talented players in the NBA and has a good chance of winning multiple NBA Championships throughout his career.

    1: LeBron James – 4 NBA Titles

LeBron James is at the top of our list and unmatched in his field. He is in a class all by himself. He is the only active player in the NBA who has won four championships in the league.

James has won NBA titles in his four seasons and has been named the Most Valuable Player of the NBA Finals each year. His first two championships came in 2011-12 and 2012-13, both of which he won with the Miami Heat. After returning to his hometown, he won a championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2015–16 season, and then he won the most recent one with the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2019–20 season.

LeBron James, who is known as “The King” and is frequently mentioned in discussions over who is the greatest player of all time (GOAT), has made it to the NBA Finals an astounding ten times during his career. It is generally agreed upon that he is the best player in the NBA at the moment.
