By winning the FIFA Player of the Year 2022 award on Monday in Paris, Lionel Messi once more solidified his place among the greatest players of all time.

The PSG star led Argentina to victory over France in the final of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar last year.

The Argentine maestro won the trophy over Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema and club teammate Kylian Mbappe.

Messi finished the World Cup with seven goals and three assists in seven games, earning him the title of the best player.

After two games went into extra time, he was one of only three Argentine players to play every minute of the campaign, 690 minutes in all. He made 347 passes, five tackles, and 32 shots during the tournament.

Emiliano Martinez, a teammate from Argentina, won the 2022 award for best men’s goalkeeper. Lionel Scaloni, the manager, was selected as the Best Men’s Coach.

Messi and his wife, Antonella Roccuzzo, went to the ceremony together, but his children stayed at home. Messi left an amusing message for his children after receiving the award, which split the crowd.

He declared, “The most beautiful thing that has happened in my career is winning the World Cup.” Many people want it, but only a few can win it.

I want to thank my family and the people of Argentina because we will always remember it. I need to send a kiss to my kids, who are watching this, Thiago, Mateo, and Ciro, I love you. Go to bed now!”

“For me, this is a privilege. I would like to express my gratitude to my coworkers, including my manager Scaloni.

We are here to represent them all, and without them, we would not be here. It acknowledges their contribution to their accomplishments.

I’ve had a crazy year this year. “After so much fighting and so much determination to win it, I have achieved my dream,” he continued.

After extra time ended in a 3-3 draw, Argentina defeated France in the final on penalties to win 4-2.

The CONMEBOL team took the lead in the 23rd minute thanks to captain Messi, who converted a penalty kick after Angel Di Maria was fouled in the French box.

The final was a close game. Alexis MacAllister assisted Di Maria on a quick counterattack in the 36th minute, making it 2-0.

Kylian Mbappe saved France and staged a comeback while Argentina was cruising to an easy victory. After Kolo Muani was brought down in the Argentinean box.
