On Saturday, December 17, matchday 23 of the EFL Championship, Preston North End will host QPR at Deepdale. Last weekend, the hosts defeated their Lancashire rivals Blackburn Rovers 4-1. With a pair of goals and an assist, Ched Evans was the main attraction.
In contrast, QPR’s return from the 2022 FIFA World Cup break was marred by a disastrous 3-0 home loss to Burnley. The Clarets left Loftus Road with all three points thanks to goals from Johann Gudmundsson, Ian Maatsen, and Nathan Tella. The capital team dropped to ninth place in the standings after scoring 31 points in 22 games with the loss. Preston, on the other hand, won to move into the playoffs and now sits sixth with 34 points.

The upturn in the fortunes of Preston North End has placed them on the verge of finishing in the top six teams in the Championship for Christmas. However, QPR has lost six games and is now in the middle of the table. Neil Critchley, who was recently appointed manager of the Rs, will be eager to get started.
Despite QPR’s struggles in front of goal, especially on the road, Preston’s defensive weakness could allow them to create enough scoring opportunities. With goals coming from both ends, Preston should win by a small margin.
Prediction: Preston North End 2-1 QPR
The two teams will meet for the 50th time this year. QPR has 13 wins, while Preston has 19 wins and 17 draws. Preston won their most recent meeting in April by a score of 2-1 at home. QPR has lost four in a row and has not scored in five of its last six league games.
Both teams scored at least three goals in five of Preston’s last six league games. QPR are winless in their keep-going four games out and about, losing three and neglecting to score. Since November 2021, Preston has not won a home game by more than two goals.
